Packaging supplier Amcor has introduced recycled plastic packaging for Cadbury Mini Eggs and other seasonal Easter chocolate products produced by Mondelēz International for the 2026 Easter season in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Announced in early 2026, the launch focuses on increasing the use of post-consumer recycled plastic in flexible confectionery packaging while reducing dependence on virgin plastic materials.

The new packaging is being applied to Cadbury Mini Eggs bags in several pack sizes, which now use flexible film containing 65% certified recycled plastic. In addition, small and large Cadbury Easter chocolate tablets are being wrapped in film containing 80% certified recycled plastic content. The packaging materials are produced using Amcor’s AmFiniti recycled-content technology, which converts post-consumer plastic waste into new food-grade packaging materials through advanced recycling processes.

According to the companies, approximately 134 tonnes of post-consumer recycled plastic will be used annually for the Easter packaging programme. This quantity corresponds to packaging for around 70 million Cadbury Mini Eggs bags and approximately 16 million seasonal chocolate tablets.

Alongside the introduction of recycled plastic films, some structural packaging adjustments have also been made. In the Cadbury Special Gesture Easter Egg range, the ribbon handle used on the packs has been replaced with a recyclable cardboard handle, reducing mixed materials and improving recyclability.

The Cadbury Mini Eggs packaging will also feature a QR code printed on the back of the pack, enabling consumers to access information about the recycled content used in the packaging and related packaging sustainability initiatives.

The launch forms part of Mondelēz International’s broader packaging strategy aimed at increasing recycled material use and improving the recyclability of packaging formats across its confectionery portfolio.
